Today I am buying my four-day pass for the 2012 Sasquatch! Music Festival, being held over Memorial Day weekend at the Gorge Amphitheatre in George, Wash. I won’t know the lineup until February, and ticket prices continue to go up each year, and I don’t even know if anybody wants to go with me yet, but none of that matters because there is one thing I know and it’s that Sasquatch! is never not awesome somehow.
Early discounted tickets for the annual fest go on sale at 10 a.m. PST today for $290 with no additional taxes or fees. This includes: Four full days of live music and comedy set on (typically) four different stages; general parking; and space to camp. Of course, if you want to upgrade to V.I.P. admission, parking and camping — honestly, things you could do without — it’s gonna cost you a little extra. And one new REALLY AWESOME addition this year is re-entry with the four-day wristband. For me, that means I don’t have to lug around a backpack full of crap through the Gorge, because I can just leave stuff in the car and go out to get it when I need it.
You can wait until the lineup is announced in February to get passes — and if you want single-day passes, you’ll HAVE to wait — but a) they’ll be more expensive; and b) you risk them selling out before you can get yours. So, go ahead, walk on the wild side, look danger right in the eye and say “I’LL WAIT.” But don’t come crying to me when you learn that one of your favorite bands is playing the fest, but you can’t get tickets. Me, I err on the side of caution, content in the knowledge that at least a few bands I consider favorites will show up on the bill, and get my tickets at my earliest possible opportunity.
I hope to see some of you there! Let me know if you’re coming and maybe we can arrange a meet-up of some sort. If’n you’re into that sorta thing. I’ve never done it really, but hey, I like trying new things!
